I Remember a Time

Before I share my joys and woes, some funnier than others, I would like to share a disclaimer of sorts. I am not a marriage expert, or a psychologist, I'm merely a woman married for the past 4 years to my lovely husband that I've known for over ten years. Although experience has taught me many lessons in marriage, the best lesson of all was using my sense of humor to learn and build a happy marriage.

I remember a time when an afternoon to the laundromat was a bonding moment for us. He would carry the clothes…I would put the detergent… Now I bond alone - with the machine.

I remember evenings shared in the kitchen…I chop, you stir. I set, you clear…it was adorable. Now I chop, I stir, I set, I clear.

I remember after he would leave to his place, I'd find a pair of boxer shorts under my bed and feel giddy that he left something behind… Now if I find another pair of boxer shorts under our bed he better find another place.

I remember when watching the game together on the couch on Sunday, made me such a great girlfriend…watching the game on Sunday instead of helping me getting ready for the week made him such an annoying husband.

I remember when we got our cute dog together, a first step towards parenting…I'm mommy, he's daddy… Now I'm a single mom with no alimony and 6 am wake up calls to dog breath.

Oh how I remember those homemade meals I'd make…a chance to impress… Homemade meals to hell! I want to go out and put on a dress!
